High on Type

High on Type is a typography collective that organizes lectures, workshops and exhibitions in Dutch cities. The High on Type collective incorporated several members: ATTAK, Studio AIRPORT, Vormplatform and Gwer.

Creative direction & animation

To give some insight on what it takes to design custom lettering, we created this animation together with Rutger Paulusse aka Gwer. This is a full day’s work of him drawing and refining 3 single words. We edited 8 hours of HD screen captures into a 2 minute film and found the perfect track for it. While these designers get high on typography, this song ‘Drugs’ by Jacob Lucas and Mizztamizzo articulates their constant itch for music. So watch and learn what ‘custom lettering’ is all about.
